Apples and Oranges

The hovering master floated over to meet his new discipline, and boomed, "Hello, my son."

Apparently, the young'un did not bring any gifts to appease his mentor, who would be instructing him in the ways of the magi. Thus, he became rather afraid of this terrible mage, who was reputed to be able to cast spells of utter destruction that could wreck havoc and terminate any form of living being. In fact, there were rumours that he fed on human brains so as to boost his magical powers. The youth was very nervous.

"Where are my gifts?"

The apprentice had nothing to say and had no way to defend himself. Outraged, the omnipotent wizard chanted the secret words of an ancient spell, and poof...!

He turned himself into apples and oranges.
